WestProp CEO Ken Sharpe Honored with African ‘Award for Innovation’

WestProp CEO, Ken Sharpe, was honored with the African ‘Award for Innovation’ at the 13th African Achievers Awards ceremony and international summit held at the House of Lords, United Kingdom Parliament.

The company itself, WestProp, was also recognized as the best African Organization of the Year. This prestigious accolade acknowledges Mr. Sharpe’s remarkable contributions in philanthropy and real estate development.

In an interview following the award, Mr. Sharpe expressed his unwavering commitment to Zimbabwe and pledged to focus his resources and efforts on making a meaningful impact in the country through WestProp’s visionary goal of laying one billion bricks by 2050.

The company has already embarked on extensive lifestyle development projects in Harare, including Pomona City, Millennium City, and the upcoming Hills Golf Estate in Warren Park.

Mr. Sharpe stated, “This award is not just about me or WestProp, but it represents all of us back home. I want everyone to know that Zimbabwe has great things to offer. Our greatest asset is our people.

” Emphasizing the importance of innovation, he added, “At WestProp, we constantly seek opportunities to improve and adapt. We pioneer leasehold property ownership in Zimbabwe, develop green and sustainable projects using solar energy, grey water systems, and bio-digesters. As a leader, you must continuously evolve; otherwise, you’ll be left behind. We need to embrace disruptive technology to enhance humanity and transform business operations.”

Zimbabweans honored at African Achievers Awards

The African Achievers Awards have recognized prominent figures in the past, including Zimbabwe’s Ms. Divine Ndhukhula of Securico, as well as notable African leaders such as Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former South African cabinet minister and AU chairperson, and His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete, former President of the Republic of Tanzania. The awards ceremony and summit, themed “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Africa,” were hosted by Lord Simone Wooley, a distinguished member of the House of Lords in the UK Parliament at the Palace of Westminster.
